How to Choose Plus Sized Fashions

Plus sized fashions are usually defined as any sizes 14 and up. And because so many women wear these sizes, there are many choices out there for them. When it comes to specialty stores for plus sized women, Lane Bryant is probably the most well-known boutique out there. And for good reason – the fashions in this store are stylish and flattering.

When choosing plus sized fashions, there are some tips you can follow to make sure you end up with the most flattering look possible.

* Monochromatic looks are quite slimming. Flat front trousers and a long, lean blazer in the same color are one example of a monochromatic look that helps the figure appear slender. Or, go with a top, skirt, tights and shoes in the same shade to look long and lean.

* High heels can make the body appear slimmer as well, the higher, the better. Try pairing them with a pair of palazzo pants and a classic white Oxford. When it comes to jewelry, stay away from short chokers and try pieces with more length.

* Long V-necks are great because they help give a longer appearance. Try pairing a long, roomy sweater with a V-neck with a matching pair of slim trousers or even knit pants for a great look. Try dangly chandelier earrings to slenderize the face.

* Don't be afraid of color or pattern. While the monochromatic look is a great choice, you may not always want to wear one shade. Go bold with vertical stripes, which are always a good choice. However, don't shy away from florals or even animal print if that's what you like.

* Clothing that's tailored properly is a must. There is nothing more unflattering for a plus sized woman, or any other woman for that matter, than baggy, bulky clothing that appears to hide the figure. You may not want to wear skintight clothing, but make sure that the pieces you choose have some shape and structure.

* Accentuate your best features. Everyone has something they like about themselves. Maybe you've got great legs. If so, don't be afraid to wear a shorter length skirt and show them off. If your bust is your best feature, go with a lower cut top or tighter bodice.

* Carry yourself with confidence. The best plus sized fashions in the world cannot make up for self esteem and a sense of pride. Whether you're a size 4 or a size 24, recognize your own individual beauty and celebrate it each and every day!
